Tasted by Stickan on 8/14/2009 & rated 92 points: Red in colour in the light side/orange. Decanted for 2 hours. Not too much smell on the nose, some smell of earth and dark fruits, some leather. Very good quality tannins. Long and lasting aftertaste. Still young, but very enjoyable rigt now. Good I have more of this wine. (1272 views)

Tasted by igaf on 4/7/2009: Medium dark ruby with an orange tinge. Nose: very fruity with strawberries and red currants contrasted by leather and barnyardy scents. Full body, silky, but muscular palate with sour cherries, clay and spice. Balanced in its own particular and contrasting way. Spicy, refreshingly tannic. Persistent cherry and tar flavours in the aftertaste. The most peculiar one at the tasting, very interesting. (1551 views)
Tasted by harupeiling on 4/4/2009 & rated 95 points: Opened 24 hours prior to drinking, a bit closed at opening, but the next day it was something quite different. The wine was very well balanced. At this stage it`s a good idea to serve it with hearty food. My pairing was with a porcini-risotto with some rib-eye steak. This worked like a charm. An excellent wine for the years to come. 10-15?  Tasted by Knottebass on 3/5/2009 & rated 96 points: Bottled november 2008.
Tasted several times.
A little bit reductive on the nose.
Normally not a big fan of decanting nebbiolo, but this needs it.
Smell of cherries, some cool, dark fruit and leather. This is how all young nebbiolos should smell!
On the palate it confirms the nose. Starts with the dark fruit and shows incredible tannin quality.
Here the old vines really show, and the smooth parfumed fruit together with the mineral/stoniness of Vigna Rionda sits for ages.

Regional History: The wines of Piemonte are noted as far back as Pliny's Natural History. Due to geographic and political isolation, Piemonte was without a natural port for most of its history, which made exportation treacherous and expensive. This left the Piemontese with little incentive to expand production. Sixteenth-century records show a mere 14% of the Bassa Langa under vine -- most of that low-lying and farmed polyculturally. In the nineteenth century the Marchesa Falletti, a frenchwoman by birth, brought eonologist Louis Oudart from Champagne to create the first dry wines in Piemonte. Along with work in experimental vineyards at Castello Grinzane conducted by Camilo Cavour -- later Conte di Cavour, leader of the Risorgimento and first Prime Minister of Italy -- this was the birth of modern wine in the Piedmont. At the heart of the region and her reputation are Alba and the Langhe Hills. This series of weathered outcroppings south of the Tanaro River is of maritime origin and composed mainly of limestone, sand and clay, known as terra bianca. In these soils -located mainly around the towns of Barolo and Barbaresco -- the ancient allobrogica, now Nebbiolo, achieves its renowned fineness and power.
