Quite pale garnet. Broad paler rim, almost clear at the edge. Sweet caramelly redcurrant on the nose, a touch of raisins, spice (mace?) and chocolate too. Sweet and soft mouth entry with just a little tannic edge to it. Still quite full, red fruited, sturdy and sweet on the mid-palate, with good balancing acidity. Not substantial but still pleasing. Fully developed but still showing its class. Good length, but no excitement. This improved and filled out with 20 minutes of air, but slid away after an hour. ***
