A Quartet of Beaux Freres (The Kenwood - Minneapolis): A very wily wine, that was fascinating in its own way. It moved up and down from folks least favorite, to favorite, and more than once. Initially a reserved nose. On the palate, initially tart and somewhat one dimensional. An herbal element that some liked better than others. Than this wine started to sing, and just got better and better. Ultimately, it was the consensus favorite.
Tonight's take away...for me... drink the, critically panned, off vintages in Oregon if you like a more ethereal elegant wine. This was such an overachiever out drinking the more highly rated '99 and '02 vintages...for me. Pale red, lots of cherry and soil infused tones. Loved it! If you love plump fruity wines, stay away. If you need critical acclaim and massive scores, stay away.
