Kind of gamey funk on the nose. More dark purple color. Very acidic, tart cherry fruit and some herbal qualities. Not my favorite style but still has an interesting edge to it.

Not a bad wine but not justifying its price at the moment, fruit in rather short supply and with rather more fairly coarse tannins than I'd expect. (There was a very clear step up to the Estate PN sampled at the same time.) One remaining bottle: I hope it may mellow in three to five years. (Last third of bottle, 24 hours later: a vegetal note has appeared, and the acidity is more apparent. Not tempted to give it another point.)

{diam, 13%} Solid garnet. Developing nose; there's a real pastrami accent to the red cherried fruits. An element of smoke on the palate; a stalky touch too, but never green. No, there's plenty of ripe authentic pinot fruit here. Loose-knit if rather gritty tannins impress on the palate; the wine seems to dance around the front and edges of the palate without ever really landing in the middle. Reasonably dense for pinot; medium-bodied at least, with a short-medium-bodied finish which is satisfying without being truly fulfilling. Decent wine, ready to drink, little benefit in holding, as you might expect from the entry level pinot of this producer.
