  • Alongside with 2007 Ramonet Bâtard-Montrachet and Puligny Les Pucelles form H . Boillot. Much more power compared to Ramonet. A beautiful classic wine with fruit, hazelnut, balance, acidity and length. A great wine.

  • Heidi's Gang: Back in Saddle Again (The Kenwood, Mpls, MN): Bright medium plus gold color. PNP, drank a glass plus over 2 hours plus. Tonight was real treat with a trio of Batard's: '07 Sauzet, '14 Ramonet, & '14 Pernot. All of these wines show the immense power and depth one might expect. The finely aged complexity of the richly honeyed '07 Sauzet makes it stand apart from the youngsters. Yet the brilliant energy and freshness of the 14's are undeniable. Pick your poison and die a glorious death. The Sauzet is a mature beauty showcasing what happens when these manage to go the distance. Beautiful and enticing on the nose with honey, fennel seed, tarragon, deep lemon, golden apple, butterscotch, and stone. The multilayered luxurious palate is full bodied with an oily, honeyed texture. Combed honey, shaved and lightly toasted hazelnuts, lemon oil, citrus zest, ripe apple, buttered apple tarts and great minerality on a long generous finish.

  • In the same flight with the uber elegant and classy '14 Ramonet Batard making for a wonderful contrast between 2 world class wines. Tonight for me, the sheer power, concentration and drive of this wine caught my fancy by a hair. On another night, I may be more smitten with the Ramonet's more ethereal presentation. What a fun flight! Also present was a lovely '14 Paul Pernod Batard that took a back seat to the exquisite Ramonet & profound Sauzet. That said, whenever Sauzet is mentioned I have my antenna up for premox. Thankfully, while fully mature, this was also in mint condition. Healthy light - med gold color. Bold citrus and mineral aromas. The palate explodes w/ sappy minerality wrapped in a plethora of citrus & stone fruit flavors all riding on a 1969 Chevy Chevelle SS 396 equivalence of acidity under the hood. Terrific cut and mouthcoating minerality! I looked at Kevin and said, " no mistaking this for anything but, Grand Cru white burgundy!" Call me smitten! 96+

(Etienne Sauzet Bâtard-Montrachet) Bright light yellow color; tight but elegant tart lemon, mineral, lemon souffle nose; tasty, tart, minerally lemon, citrus and tart orange palate with depth and juice (more approachable and open than the Bienvenues-Batard at this stage); medium-plus finish 94+ pts.
