Allowed to breathe in glass 1 hour. Clear deep dark garnet color. Nice subdues bouquet of dark fruits and their liqueurs; leather, cardamom; cloves, nutmeg, stony soil, occasional savory note of cured meat. Similar on the palate, full body, modern fruit forward style with bit of alcoholic heat, nice tannic grip.

Out of the bottle, anise on the nose, gritty tannins, biting. Dark garnett color. Med+ body, nice acidity. Wine took time to open up, after 45 min decant. Red fruits on the finish, mellowed grippy tannins, well balanced.

While still a pleasant wine this is now on the downside. Nowhere near as good as the bottle I drank a few years ago. Drink up if you have any.

Good but not as layered or complex I would expect at this price point. A solid, enjoyable Brunello nonetheless that went well with tomato and mozzarella tortellini and pesto sauce.
