A murky maroon-ruby, hazy and opaque. Dark cherries, earth, muted citrus zest on the nose. The cherries go to the sour side on the tongue, and the earth is joined by a little leather - yet this is still bright and lively in the mouth. Not a lot of mouth-filling complexity here, but what is there is quite nice. Clearly new-world - ripe, fruit forward without being jammy or over the top. Didn't budge over 3 days, I wonder if this would mellow into something more interesting with a couple years. Drinking it now because it froze in shipping, pushing the cork almost 1". Doesn't seem damaged, but leery of laying it down for any length of time. I'd buy this again.

89% Sangiovese, 10% Syrah, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, Vineyards: Seven Hills East, Seven Hills West, LeFore, Windrow . Alcohol: 13.3%. Light red-rust in color, cloudy (unfiltered w/o sediment). Nose of deep earth, sandy minerals with wild berries and plum. Palate reminiscent of a Tuscan table wine with earth, loam, clay, spice, smoke, cedar, acidic cherry, dark chocolate and a minty quality. Tarry wood, very rustic, simple & on the light side. Definitely screams for food. Past Prime, drink now or re-purpose.

tannins are pretty sharp still; will sit on a second bottle for a couple more years.
