Red ruby color , leather and animal note at the beginning , after it comes the fruits, black fruits. Medium to full bodied on the palate , light tannins. Easy to drink.

The ruby colour almost touches the violet but maintaining a certain transparency to it. The raspberrries in the nose are still restrained and only slightly touched by the wood (sugestion of honey). The animal note and inky edge disappeared after 30m in the glass. The palate is light to medium body with the fruit upfront though less focused than the nose. The animal note is more evident here but never intrusive. Primary, fresh if onedimenssional and simple...for now. Finishs a bit short with great (refreshing) acidity and some grainy, fine tannins. Fun (delicious) to drink now but still asks for some time in the dark where hopefully will gain more complexity. Holding my remaining bottles for 4/6 years...not more!

Nose is richer, black cherry. Some oak and vanilla on the nose. Nice black cherry flavors. Decent tannin and acid integration. The most noticable difference is that on this wine, the dark fruits are fresher and juicier.

Red Burgundy (Waterford Wine Co., Milwaukee): again, determined but leaner coming after the robert chevillon wines. lean, dry, grippy. raspberry fruit on the nose. hints at brett. light herb oil. this shows the depth of fruit, but then the finish is so quick.

Gutsy little thing that this is. Sure, it is Volnay and since I was tasting the Pommard Vignots right next to it I could tell that. But with power -- darker fruits, bulkier if you will. Also just a touch of brett to the wine. But so delciiously managed it adds a note of chocolate to me. Certainly deep with intrigue.
