Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 88.7 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 3 notes)

Tasted by Loren Sonkin on 11/3/2009 & rated 88 points: Cork was soaked 3/4ths of the way to the top. On pouring there was a chemical note to the nose, but this blew off in 5 minutes. The nose i ok with cherries, dust and some earthiness. Light to medium bodied. A bit thinner and more acidic than I had hoped for. A nice wine, but showing more heat than expected and slight raisining. I wonder if this is a proper bottle or not. In any event, this needs some food to counter the acidity, but drink well. I would not hold long term based on this showing. Perhaps it just PUME, and that's my real issue. (232 views)
Tasted by Halvo on 6/6/2009 & rated 89 points: Ditto - a heavy hit for the price. Curious to see what 4-5 years will do. (215 views)
Tasted by bevetroppo on 10/18/2008 & rated 89 points: Blend of sangiovese and sagrantino. These guys aren't well known or heralded, but when they get their act together they produce truly memorable wines. This was a tug-of-war between relatively refined sangiovese and wild-ass sagrantino. You could feel the tension almost palpably, yet the wine never tasted like it was anything but integrated. Multiple dark red fruits, earthy notes, a lashing of forest funk, this is a wine for game, mushrooms and earthy fare at an entirely fair price. After drinking a bottle at a restaurant tonight, I tracked it down online and ordered a case for $17/bottle. You find something you like more at this price, you let me know. Refutes the argument completely that "I can't get no satisfaction." (244 views)
