Lovely, meaty and rich, with minerals and black fruits.Rather Northern Rhône in style like all Bakers I’ve tried, though this is a bit more forward and lacks the finesse and acid of later vintages.

2 bottles consumed several months apart. Both PnP. Both had rich ripe fruite, totally CA in style. The second however got green and a bit harsh with the tannins after a half hour of air. The second bottle also developed a bit of green olive along the lines of Cote Rotie, which was unexpected given the lush fruit on the palette. The first stayed true to the sweet lush CA style. Both decent and at $30 good value.

Delicious dark fruit, peppercorn, and olive notes on the nose and palate with wonderful stem notes and acidity on the long finish. Really enjoyed this bottle!

(Copain Syrah Baker Ranch) Nearly opaque red violet color; olive, black fruit, pepper, green peppercorn nose; tasty, tart black fruit, berry, olive palate, with good textured; medium-plus finish
(Copain Syrah Baker Ranch) Dark red violet color; lovely, roasted red fruit, pepper, green peppercorn nose; tasty, tart roasted red fruit, pepper palate, drinking surprisingly well now; medium-plus finish
(Copain Syrah Baker Ranch) Barrel sample (Copain gets all 2 acres of this fruit, which is grown at 2,000 foot elevation; Wells used 100% whole cluster) – gorgeous pepper and roasted fruit nose; great, Cote Rotie-like, elegant roasted fruit with pepper palate; long finish 93-97 pts.
