Uncorked 1 full day prior to serving into Zalto Burgundy glass ("Root" day): Medium garnet with bricking rims, some fine deposits.
Great balance of mature red cherry fruits, florals, savour notes and liquorice, spices consistent with nose and palate. Some very faint hints of VA detected that does not bother.
What stood out for me is that this has a little more rusticity (like that of an image of a wine from Monforte) than the Giuseppe Mascarello's interpretion of this terroir.
Very enjoyable wine now. Easily 93-94 points for me.

Very nice wine, rich, smooth and totally ready to to drink. On any other night it would be a pleasure and it was fun to taste side by side with the Mascarello

BYO Barolo Dinner (Campagna at the Bedford Post Inn): Much softer than the Mascarello with lighter red Pinot-like fruit and hints of cherry medicinal notes on the finish. Best early on and when revisited later in the night this was fading. Still a very nice wine but overshadowed by the Mascarello.

(at Cinghiale – Baltimore) Dull garnet. Intoxicating Barolo nose. Rose, cumin, blood and earl grey on the nose. Sweet and seamless – wow. Fills the senses. A great wine. (95)
