Bonneau du Martray Visit and Tasting (Pernand-Vergelesses): Tasting at the domaine. Floral with very good spice and plenty of apple with some squeezed lemon wedges. Tense and energetic. While this seems were acidic vs other vintages, Jean-Charles says that is the chalk character of the terroir coming through. Also consistent with the many other times I have tasted this wine.
Citrus fruit, white flowers, quince and herbal notes on the nose - not overly expressive or intense, even quite restrained. On the palate nice depth, intense acidity, pure fruit, lots of minerality but not really very well balanced. Very long finish. This really needs more time but should be wonderful in a couple of years. 91-93+(+?)
Lovely dinner and vertical tasting at Haut Bailly (Château Haut Bailly): Gorgeous white Burgundy: Fresh, wet stone, citrus, red apple, sumptuous yet vivacious palate, fine acidity and ripeness. Coming from magnum gave it extra freshness. Nearly the top wine of the dinner :-). OK, not as good - not nearly as good - as the 2010, which I had tasted at the estate a couple of years before (along with the 09, 08, 07, 06) but over dinner this was singing! No sign of premox.
