(PRIVILEGIO Feudi di San Gregorio) Weekend Dear Friends, A few heavily requested re-stock items from offers in 2007/2008 - all have just arrived and all are EXTREMELY LIMITED (especially the Tissot). 2003 Feudi di San Gregorio Privilegio (500ml) STRICT LIMIT 3/person I'm not sure what it is about this unctuous/botrytis-laced dessert wine but many of you cannot get enough of it. 2003 may have been too warm for dry wines but not for dessert treats. In fact, some of the 2003 dessert wines are among the most decadent ever produced (see next wine below). Don't expect any acidity - this is about toffee, coffee and apricot/passion fruit preserves that can masquerade as dessert itself. Due to the exchange rate, we have a terrific price. 2003 Domaine Tissot "Pour Ma Gueule" (375ml) STRICT LIMIT 1/person As decadent as dessert wine gets? This Poulsard/Savagnin blend has a reported 450-500g residual sugar and, while other vintages are also incredible, this style (translucent motor oil) was made for the 2003 growing season. The Pour Ma Gueule ("for my mouth") is next to impossible to find from 2003 and there's a reason. I remember opening a bottle for a friend who is a top sommelier in Italy and we had over a dozen fabulous wines that night (including an original bottle of late 1960's Mastroberardino Taurasi that had never moved from the winery cellar) - the Pour Ma Gueule made such an impression on him that he didn't speak for the rest of the night (which lasted another 3 hours) - enough said. Only a few hundred bottles produced - one berry at a time. 2005 Bodegas AAlto P.S. (Ribera del Duero) 750ml STRICT LIMIT 6/person As noted above, exchange rate has turned in your favor and I was able to shave off another $5-6 from the original price. A wine that has really surprised me with how popular it's been (I thought it would be just another 98pt over-extracted mess but I was quite wrong - check community notes)... (PRIVILEGIO Feudi San Gregorio) Feudi Dear Friends, This has become one of my fail-safe dessert wines - a wide variety of palates admire it and I tend to hear quite a few oohs and aahs to cap off the evening. For the tarrif, it's very tough to top. 2003 may have been hard on delicate expression but the vintage truly shined with full-impact, exotic dessert wines and this is one of them. Feudi di San Gregorio produces this from handpicked and crushed Fiano di Avellino left to the effects of botrytis - it's like white fruit nectar churned with fresh cut pineapple, Earl Grey and goldenberries (some will say apricot). Full-flavored and intense (but still balanced), your guests will undoubtedly desire a second glass - it's tough to resist (especially at a price that should be even lower than in Italy). Like the Mosto Cotto from this morning, this would be a terrific gift. I don't have my laptop in front of me to cut and paste scores but I think the Wine Spectator gave this a 92 or 93 (I do remember that it was the highest rated Feudi wine in 2003). ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price with perfect provenance NO SALES TO RETAILERS (this price is lower than US wholesale): 2003 Feudi di San Gregorio "Privilegio" (500ml) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy8966
