  • Beautiful wine. So well rounded and balanced. Flavours showing blackberries, cherries, plums, prunes. Then the meatiness and herbaceaous side shows up. Dusty smooth sweet tannins. Juicy. Some dried fruits creeping in as well. Really enjoying this bottle.

  • Having had this wine sitting in cooler for the better part of two years after getting it gifted to me, I decided it was time to finally open it up. With a lot of reviews saying it might be over-the-hill, I was still cautiously optimistic just based off of my experiences with mature Tempranillo. Turns out I was right to be optimistic as this wine was showing incredibly well on the evening. Popped-and-poured, the nose proved to be rather tertiary as cedar wood, jam and licorice dominated alongside hints of pencil shavings, smoke and white truffle. The palate was everything I love about mature Spanish wine as the rusticity of the wine shone through by how meaty and herbaceous it was. Accompanied by mild blackcurrant, prune, plum and red cherries, the fruit felt inevitably overpowered by the aforementioned notes as well as a good amount of cassis in the upfront. As a whole, this was a great deviation for my palate that has gotten used to Bordeaux and Burgundy, making for a new experience from the storied Spanish producer Vega Sicilia.

  • Further improved since 2020, to a real treat, on top well matching our paella. Charming, opulent nose of noble cask notes and tobacco. Medium to full bodied, with intense cedar, chocolate, plum aromas, nicely balanced against herbal notes and liquorice, with a long, rewarding finish.

  • The wine was over its peak, a bit tired. Not sure if it the bottle was not that good, would have expected this wine to have much more life

  • Etwas heller, rotfruchtiger. Etwas sweet candy, schöne frische mit gutem Säurenachhall. Gefällt mir am besten vom 1. Flight.
