Cork was very clean but broke at the very bottom. Decanted with a strainer -- lots of sediment -- and drank over 90 minutes. Ruby color with mature Cab aromas and flavors. This is definitely on the backside of its life with muted fruit but was enjoyable nevertheless. At age 31, it still shows a bit of what it once was.
Dark ruby; not faded. Old-world balance and acidity but deeper fruit a la California. Opened and aired 30 minutes; light pepper and cassis. Beautiful wine. Ullage was at the top of the shoulder. 13% alcohol. This is why Caymus had the reputation that it did, though I can't speak to their current versions that are all the fuss... Perhaps they just need a decade or two (or three) in the cellar before passing judgement?
