This wine has a true bordeaux style to it and is just now coming to age. The tannins are subsiding and integrating into the fruit which is still full flavored. Patience paid off here and this should get better over the next two to five years.
Not a nice balance here. Maybe it was too young, but the tannins were overpowering. Not very complex. Abrasive and kinda harsh. Maybe a few more years would aid this wine. Following day wine had softened a bit. The fruit was more accessible. Red cranberries, cinnamon and menthol on the nose. Pleasing acidity.
Agree with others that this is very Bordeaux like in character, but sadly the type where the tannin always masks the fruit. Decent nose and dark purple in color, but harsh, rough and briary on the palate. Not to my liking and I doubt it will ever shed its tannins. Not enjoyable now, but who knows what this will be like 5 years from now which is when I would next try it.
I love this wine - it has a fabulous nose on opening (I agree with the earlier comment about being similar to a Bordeaux!). Tannis are still quite strong, but it does soften over time. Stands up beautifully to a nicely charred prime steak and leaves you wanting more when it's all gone.
