  • Explosive with enticing aromas of red flowers and spice. Black raspberry jam, pomegranate and beef broth. Firm gripping tannins frame all the wonderful tastes and textures. Medium body, and glides effortlessly into an impressive and pinpoint finish. Spectacular wine by Mac

  • -- decanted immediately before initial taste --
    -- tasted non-blind over a couple hours --
    -- 82% Grenache, 18% Syrah --

NOSE: savory, high-toned, fumey plum/berry; stemmy pepperiness --- pink peppercorns; peppery raisins; expressive; smells nice.

BODY: black cherry color of medium-deep depth; medium bodied.

TASTE: very stemmy; 15.7% can be tasted and also felt on the tongue; good acidity; still tannic; medium-low to moderate oak; raspberry jam; more relaxed than the two previous times I’ve had this wine (a few years ago); if not for the noticeable alcohol, I’d say keep sitting on these, but such is not the case, and they’re probably better consumed now than later.

  • Delicious dark fruits along with some black olive and licorice. Well balanced and smooth. The alcohol level didn't taste significant. Smooth and lasting finish, glad I have a couple more bottles to share.

  • 15.7% alcohol
    82% Grenache/18% Syrah

Purple center with a brick red rim. The nose comes across as dark fruited with blackberry and boysenberry initially. The complex palate displays earth, minerals, black pepper, blackberry, and boysenberry. Wow, there is quite a bit of structure in is wine, especially in light of amount of grenache in the blend. The drying tannins are quite strong and a little heat pokes through as well. The finish has dark fruit and pepper but the tough tannins clip the length. Overall, this is a structured wine with more syrah notes than grenache, but the flavor complexity makes it seem more old world than new. I would let these rest for a few years and see where the tannins take it.
