This bottle has been sitting in my home wine chiller since purchase in 2011 and finally I decided to open to drink. Clear straw yellow showing the age, it has a well developed and aromatic nose, showing lemon curd, citrus along with smoke and mineral notes. Rich supple entry, initial notes of kerosene and oily texture open up to exhibit mineral, zesty lime and some complex smoky notes. Acidity has mellowed down, complex and smooth mouthfeel, it doesn’t have the sharp edge from young Riesling. End with a long lingering finish. This is a fine example of a delicious aged Riesling and kudos to Peter Lehmann for delivered excellent Riesling at entry level.

Strong on the citrus nose, lots of lime, with the merest hint of kerosene/petrol. Strong acidity on the palate, but a nice citrus core and some secondary notes of beeswax. The mid palate is a bit hollow and the initial finish is a little short but somehow comes back flowing in and out with the acidity dampening each time. An interesting wine, with a curious finish. Not particularly amazing, but a nice example of how Eden Valley Riesling can age.
