  • Definitely more towards Syrah in hue (violet-y), but not as dark or opaque. The nose is a bit woody chippy with harsh alcohol, hiding a tiny bit of tart fruit - sour cherry.

On the palate, there's much more fruit, almost juicy - the brightness of Sangiovese fruit with the intenity/depth of Syrah. Light in mouthfeel, but with chalky tannins to add a bit of heft. High, high acidity. I wouldn't consider this a 'bold' red, and it's still a bit overoaked, especially on the finish which is overly woody and a bit woody, but at least decently long. Still, this is a pleasant wine that pairs nicely with food.

  • Same horrible stuff in my second bottle. What a shame, as I could have enjoyed some very nice wine for what I paid for this. I have nothing against this winery. Their cab is okay (see my review). But this is swill.

  • I sure hope this is a flawed bottle, but I really don't think so. This is bottom shelf at the grocery store quality red wine, like it was fermented in a former gas tanker. Am going to pour this down the sink and open my second bottle. I very much hope I can come back with a review that matches the rating of the previous poster, although "excellent" is not much to say about a 91 rating.
