Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 89.5 points

  • Root day - minimal bricking at rim. Fair bit of sediment. Nose is cedar, black cherries and dark fruit combined. Still extremely fresh and vibrant showing little sign of age except the tannins are fully resolved (yet enough still present to make it youthful in the mouth). Secondary notes on the palate but extremely Bordeaux like. Still a bit grippy on the finish with the cedar, dark fruit and just a hint of development. Will definitely go another 5 years if wanted but I'll be drinking my last bottle this year. This is so on the plateau right now - excellent!!

  • I bought a case of this back in 1998 or so and this was the last bottle. Several years had passed since I had tried it. It has held up surprisingly well, better than I expected, and better than most Cali cabs from the same vintage and price range. Only the slightest bricking around the original medium-dark purple color. Powerful cherry nose and dark fruit cab-dominated palate. Sweet finish of medium length with well-integrated tannins.

  • This wine had an earthy, mineral nose. Lots of fruit: cherry and boysenberry.
