Community Tasting Notes (2)

  • With a winery name like "Peachy" and a designation like "Incredible Red" the vintner sets high expectations. Unfortunately, these high expectations were not met with this bottle. Before I give my impressions let me say that I checked the winemaker's notes from wine.com and from the wineery's web site. The descriptions difference fairly significantly with the one on wine.com boasting "a concentrated nose of licorice, cinnamon and clove" while the other stating "Strawberries and fresh raspberry are especially noticeable with a hint of black pepper". What I noticed is oak and a bit of pepper and spice hiding behind the oak. Perhaps it is because two thirds of my cellar is French wine and they are notably lacking in overbearing oak. It could be that more age for the vines or less time in the oak barrels or maybe even another year or two in the cellar will help this wine but I did not find it that appealing at this time. For the money, I would recommend A Mano Primitivo as a better-value alternative. Perhaps others can recommend a California Zin under $15 worth trying.

  • Very little bouquet from glass. Very thin on initial taste. Clean finish. No lingering impression.
