  Unbalanced wine with little acidity and still some prominent tannins. Though this wine can probably age for a few more years I don't think it will improve any. Nice blackberry and cheery fruit at first taste, but it quickly fades away. Little or no mid-palette.

  First one of these I've opened in almost 8 months and patience has paid off. Noticeably better than I remember it being last time. Really dark in color, but lightens quite a bit around the edge. Very attractive, powerful aromas of plums, vanilla, earth and spice. Full-bodied and quite fruity now. This has loosened up nicely. Lots of spice character too, leading to a long finish that features hints of coffee and baker's chocolate, along with fine tannins and a touch of oak. Very balanced, polished and complex. A beautiful Super-Tuscan, especially for this vintage. 91+

  Needed to make some room for new arrivals so I decided to try another one of these. Consistent with previous tasting. Lots of leather and sweet tobacco on the nose and palate along with hints of baker's chocolate and coffee. The tannins are so silky and refined. Very, very good and maybe even a little better than last time, but still a little oaky and tight. Almost, but not quite a 91. Maybe next time.

  Very dark purple and totally opaque in the glass. The nose is definitely Tuscan, with subtle aromas of dark fruit, spices and sweet tobacco. This seemed to be a bit tight, only grudgingly revealing its Sangiovese character with medium-to-full bodied flavors of dark fruit, leather and coffee. The tannins are still dominant, but quite refined and not overwhelming. The medium finish is fresh and clean. Overall I expected a little more from this, but still a nice Super Tuscan which probably will benefit from another 2-3 years of bottle age. Can't really complain, as I got half a case of these for just $20.95 - a 60% discount from its release price.
