Delicious. Perfect weight. Nice herb and bell pepper notes. Beautiful black fruits. Still ripe and bright. Perfect acidity. Smooth tannins that are great with food and on their own. Opened nicely over 2.5 hours in decanter. Started a little hot but smoothed out. Vanilla notes. Perfect balance. A great wine. The finish is virtually forever.
PnP, served non-blind. This was a final bottle of the evening, but not in a typical (read: mindless, drunken, or gratuitous) sense. After a great meal of ribeyes, Brunello, Pahlmeyer, etc., we decided we needed one more wine. And while most bottles retrieved late at night are either cellar-defender grade or, on the opposite end of the spectrum, something you'll likely regret having opened come the next morning, this was neither of those, it was just right. While the structure and acidity invited food, it didn't beg for it, didn't demand it. Similarly, this wasn't a meal-unto-itself kind of wine, either. Rather, it was a very elegant wine, in a really wonderful place right now. Gained some weight with airtime, but, significant complexity on the nose and palate, in the same period. Nearly impossible to fault this wine (unless you consider the price-tag); lovely and delicious. Serious without being austere, and tasty without any chicanery. An enviable future. The 14,8% abv is fully integrated. Tertiary development is likely 3-4 years from now, and for the decade+ beyond that. recommended
