Tasted by winelover1986 on 3/31/2010: Opened at cellar temp with no decant and drank over three nights. Nose of kumquat, green apple and limestone; more floral as it warmed, turning to honeysuckle at room temperature. Full body with bracing but balanced acidity and flavors of white grapefruit and Braeburn apple. Dry through the medium-long finish. I tend to prefer German Rieslings but liked this a lot. (609 views)
Tasted by castle2 on 3/23/2010 & rated 94 points: Dry bouquet and dry on the palate, smooth, refreshing, lovely with blue cheese.
The wine looks Straw colored.
The body is Medium.
The wine is textured Silky.
The wine finishes Long. (796 views)
Tasted by eyeguy on 3/15/2010: Not a flavor profile that Val or I enjoyed unfortunately (814 views)

Wikipedia about Smaragd (german)

From what I understand, these wines (very ripe, dry, late-harvest, etc.) were going to be designated Honivogl (after a kind of bird found in or near the vineyards, meaning 'honey bird'. However, the Honivogl family was involved in the wine trade in Austria and objected that this would cause confusion and weakening of their trademark. Another creature was therefore selected (the green lizard called Smaragd) to be the mascot (sort of ) for this kind of wine in the Wachau.
