A different style of scrio or just age gives this a different dimension. Well balanced , not the rich oaky wine of youth that we would have thought dry by now ( this was the late husband making the wines in 1997) . Has aged very well and was very elegant. A very solid 93 and drink now

  • Powerful indeed. Opened at the restaurant, no prior prep. Wasn't decanted, just poured into large glasses. At first, some bottle funk that made me wonder if this was going to be an unpleasant experience. Sipped without food, the wine wasn't appealing -- too harsh, too aggressive. We gave it 10-15 minutes and it opened nicely. Once the earth/barn notes dissipated, the fruit took over and it was much better. Then paired with food (burratta, polenta, mushrooms), it got MUCH better. Then with entrees (rigatoni w/red sauce, chicken, etc) better still. Then by end of meal silky smooth. Sadly this was my last bottle so you can learn from my experience. Definitely should be decanted. Plenty of power remains here. Give this beast some air. Then you'll get a beautiful wine.

  • Bel syrah italiano, ricco e speziato con un tocco di vegetale di troppo e un po' scuro e cupo

  • Extremely dark og nice. Some vegetables on the nose. Extremely concentrated dark fruits, dark berries. Delicious and volumnious. Really goes for it. Tasted blind. Wine Battle at Max's 03/03/2006.
