My goodness was this good. I would say mature with its iron fruit / bloody fruit character. Exceptional in every way. Cementing in my mind that not only is this an exceptional producer, but one whose wines are entirely age worthy.

Popped and poured without decant. Been missing the window on these 06s lately so I’m trying this approach moving forward. Developed beautifully in the glass. Wild, sauvage nose. Meaty, brooding aromas but plenty of red fruit too. Plenty of depth on the palate and minerality with a long sappy finish. Still grippy but absolutely at a peak spot for this. Should hang here for another 5 years before losing some of the fruit. Never had this producer before. Bought this on a flyer and rolled the dice. It paid off big time. Very well done.

My first experience of Mazis from this producer. Wild nose so typical of Mazis, may not be for everyone but I loved it. Good mixed of black and red fruits. Good balance. More developed than ‘06 Cathiard Malconsorts for sure, ready to go. 93 pts

Expect tons of wild animal notes in this. I would say it’s elegantly furry (sounds wierd but it is)
