Beautiful wine. Olive, smoke, brine/saline, cured meat, sweet leather and a touch of barnyard all beautifully harmonized with blueberries and plum flavors. Definitely showcasing the rustic, savory side of syrah, but in gorgeous fashion. Decanted for 15 mins and enjoyed over the course of an evening. No need to decant very long, no need to cellar much longer; in a great place right now.
Nice wine. Nose is slightly smoky, with a black fruit, olive core. Smells a bit like it came off "the rocks." Palate was a nice, complex blend of dark fruits, mild peppers, barnyard/forest floor. Silky texture, tannins are well integrated. Finish is medium to long; nice flavor, but not overly complex. Good bottle of wine, excellent QPR.
Slow-O 4 hours, served non-blind. Slightly better than the previous bottle (which was very enjoyable, too), this has entered its preferred window, showing gentle signs of maturity. Exceptionally balanced, with good freshness. In an age where some Syrah are inclined to achieve some comical level of muscle packed onto muscle, this keeps the bar in the middle, which is, for this taster, quite welcome. Very nice food wine. The 14,2% abv is nicely integrated; this is on point, so enjoy. recommended, thru 2017
