  • My last bottle, and by far the best one I can remember. This has aged wonderfully. Fully mature now, and so elegant and refined. Still displays quite a lot of fruit for a wine this age. Bursting with ripe, juicy raspberry, red currant and dark cherry fruit - perfectly matched with a moderate acidity. Finishes very long, with loads of ripe, tangy fruit, along with attractive notes of leather, Port and mineral. The tannins are beautifully integrated. So silky, polished and delicious. This bottle drank better than our last 2006 Flaccianello.

  • First one of these in almost four years. It has held up remarkably well. Still looks much younger in the glass than it actually is. A pretty, semi-opaque magenta in color, lightening just slightly around the edge. No bricking at all. Displays an attractive Tuscan nose of leather, earth, flowers and crushed dark fruits, with a hint of barnyard. Medium-to-full bodied, offering plenty of tart, juicy raspberry and blackberry fruit, showing good depth and intensity. Has a vibrant acidity that nicely matches its tangy, pure Sangiovese fruit. Finishes with good length, and subtle notes of mineral, leather and spice. Not particularly complex - but very pure - and a lovely, textbook example of Central Tuscan Sangiovese.

  • Very nice wine which may improve a little but I intend to drink now.

  • Very powerful nose of dark fruit, spices, earth and leather. On the palate this is round and juicy, bursting with boysenberry fruit with a funky aftertaste of leather and mineral. Tannins are still present, though very muted and refined. Although not as complex as a Flaccianello or Fontalloro, this is a serious, polished Sangiovese and continues to drink nicely at this rather advanced age.

  • Ran it thru the aerator, and drank with appetizers. Showing well, plenty of life left, not a bit faded; nice structure, good acidity. Good stuff.
