This is pretty good. Some rancio and caramel. Moderately sweet, maybe a bit moreso that I would expect for a Verdelho. Missing the sharp acidic tang I want in madeira. Bottled in December 2019 as per lot # on the back label.

Nutty, ashy rancio on the nose, then sweeter on the palate, almost a little candied. Warm on the finish, and some sweet cherry. Not especially complex, but tasty and good value. Best served fairly cold, with some salty cheese.

Walnut, orange marmalade, maple syrup, rich honey, clove, dried apricot, slight saline and clove. Rich, viscous, immensely satisfying. The balance of the bitterness, sweetness, and moderate acidity is top notch. Pretty complex, with a very long finish. Perfect for a rainy fall day.

Volcanic Wines of North London (Must & Lees): Oxidative, somewhat aggressive, pungent nose, full of grilled nuts and orange. Slightly sweet on the palate, with chocolate orange and more nuttiness, and a touch of salinity. Pleasant wine, but overpowered and outclassed by the Sercial (which, to be fair, costs 10x as much!).

Nicely done. Great balance of sweetness, oxidation, and acidity.
