  • In KL. Finally found this bottle! Go Gattinara! Pop and poured. Drank over a few hours.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, garnet colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of soy sauce, forest floor earth, truffle, light floral rose, traditional Chinese medicine shop. Developed.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), integrated high tannins with lingering grippiness, medium body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of dried out sour red cherry, dried plum, savoury earth, balsamic, old leather, bits of mushroom, indistinct minerality. Long finish.
Very good quality. In its twilight years already and time to drink up as the fruit is drying out. But really classic aged Nebbiolo profile. Structure and overall balance still intact.

  • Nicely developed, not very complex. Drink now.

  • Fresh and fruity as the first impression, however, combined with long and complex after tastes. Still tannins, but very drinkable and an excellent wine. Give the wine some air before serving.
The wine looks Ruby colored. The legs are Medium. The body is Light/Medium. The wine finishes Long.

  • Much better than previous bottle. Gained nice complexity after some air.Probably at it's best now and during the next 2-3 years.

  • Based on this bottle, the wine is in a sort of intermediate phase at the moment. The primary fruit is fading out, but the secondary aromas and taste are still not there. Quite some tannins left. Anyway a nice bottle. Will be interesting to follow over some more years.
