Big, dark and monolithic and still very tannic. Fruit is present but softening, but I'm not sure this will ever emerge as anything other than a dark bruiser of a wine. While not elegant or "charming" this is still quite palatable and would be enjoyable with a fatty piece of red meat (ribeye or rack of lamb)....
On the nose: Dark fruit, earthy funk, some faint anise, definitely forest like with the bark/wood/dirt/plants, etc. On the Palette: Good balanced acid and tannins. Not as big and thick as I was expecting, but more of a delicate mouth feel play. Definitely intriguing that it defied expectations. Solid dark berry fruit, hints of tarragon(not sure why I got this), faint dark cherry, blue berry.
Very fresh tree bark, herbs (including the illicit kind), and gasoline nose. Lovely, surprisingly delicate interplay between buoyant freshness and deep sweetness in the mouth, with the sneakiest of tannins . This has both distinctiveness and breed.
Dark, dense and tannic, with rich blackberry and blueberry fruit, some roasted espresso bean, and an herbalicious (Aglianico-like) and licorice component. Very good now, but with its huge structure, definitely one for the future.
