Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Monday, August 12, 2002 The rim show a little red brick while the center and edges are garnet. The nose is sweet fruit, blackberry, mocha and tar. Not an over-powering nose, but defined and well developed. A well defined and balanced wine followed with flavors of blackberry, coffee, roasted vegetables and (unfortunately) a little green pepper on the finish. From the midpalate to the finish, a nice dusty quality appeared. 13.2%. With sugar crusted fillet steaks. (Article on Food forum.) The steaks had an interesting crunch on the outside, yet were very tender and juicy inside. But boy, did they generate some smoke in the kitchen when cooked in a cast iron skillet!
