Stunning...I could just leave it at that and it would be enough. Don't let anybody tell you that white wines don't age. While it is true that most do not, some winemakers know how to craft them to be graceful for many years. Jim and Bo Barret nailed it with this vintage! The color of this 30 year old wine was dark like apple juice and not perfectly clear. The nose immediately produced a medley of cooked apples and pears stewing in a pot of caramel sauce. In tasting it was ripe pears, apples and caramel with a bit of the fresh fruit at the finish. The legs stayed on the glass pretty much throughout. As for food...I sipped half of the glass without anything else. I finally relented and had some homemade French bread with a thin slice of provolone and a small piece of mild sheep's cheese. This wine was, without a doubt, the best white wine I have ever had.

A nose of apple pie with the taste of honey. Much better than I expected for a 37 year old Chardonnay

Looks and tastes like apple juice. Oxidized, showing little resemblance to wine, though drinkable. Not scored.

Light honey color, somewhat oxidized and burnt in profile, still showing some weight but generally muted. Seepage, not scored.

Interesting bottle to try. Still quite lively with lots of fruit left. Balanced. Not terribly complex... a bit one-directional.
