Surprisingly in a really good place, far from over the hill. It definitely screams older Syrah, lots of earthy, meaty, and savory characteristics. But, there is this very clear new world fruit that’s nice. Truly one of a kind, very happy with how it showed.

Popped and poured this late as an after dinner wine. Similar to my note on the 92, this has held up really well and still has some holding power to it but I would be safe and drinking now. A-

Dark ruby in color, with an overpowering whollop of eucalyptus I could smell from the glass poured next to me. If you could ever call a wine blind from a pour in the next person's glass, this would be your chance. After the eucayptus, there was charicol and blackberry liqueur on the nose. Very full bodied, with good texture: viscous but not heavy, and a palate much meatier and darker than the nose would hint. This wine has a great structure and backbone, but the eucalytpus was a bit off putting to me. I had the '94 last year , and the eucalytpus blew off the second day and it was at least for me a more complete wine. I suspect this may happen with this wine. At peak, but not going anywhere soon. 92 pts for me, probably higher for others.

It was late and just a taste, but this was holding together well after all this time. Dark and concentrated. B+/A-
