Light garnet. Faint aroma of violet, licorice, blackberry, with an earthy/gamey aspect. On the palate, fresh, mid-palate really fills out to create a supple, medium body, a surprising amount of tannins kick in and the finish is of warm plums. Short-medium length.

Enjoyed with aged ribeye steak, pheasant sausage and berkshire porkchops. Drank beautifully, garnet colour, mellow but interesting nose, typical, earthy with resolved tannins, refreshing acidity and a pleasant finish. The bottle was gone fast is the best thing I can say.

Double decanted for ~1hr. Clear, garnet, medium intensity. Clean, developing, medium intense nose. Black cherry underpins the balanced spicy oak, beetroot, redcurrant, violet, kirsch, red licorice, ripe. Dry, medium acidity, low tannins, light+ body but medium intensity the black cherry, licorice and spicy wood oak carry through on the medium-length finish. Very good, and an excellent match with farm-raised Pheasant, stuffed with wild rice and porcini, with Sauce Smitane.
