Deep, dark garnet in color with no signs of aging. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of complex, ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of cedar, earthy/dusty, eucalyptus/mint, floral notes, tobacco, herbs, minerals, truffles, some spices & vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth & supple texture, complex, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & cranberries with cedar, herbs, minerals, earthy, spices, mint & vanilla in the background. Long lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present & is most likely at or near its peak of development. I doubt there is any further development from additional aging although it should hold at this plateau for a several more years.
Nice aged bottle of wine that is past its peak but enjoyable. Slight brownish tinge to a dark wine. Slightly port-like on the nose. Vanilla, carmel and stewed black cherry and cassis. Integrated tannins. Best first night with some air. Fell apart after that night.
Drank from magnum. Cork roughly 1/5 saturated. Color youthful with no bricking noted but not overly concentrated and only slightly opaque. Nose slightly earthy at first but blew off rather quickly to reveal vanilla, blue and red fruits. Pleasing even though slightly thin mouthfeel leading to med finish with hints of leather. I don't see this wine improving much past this point due to lack of concentration. Very good but not outstanding.
