This 2001 DEWN Splendido Segaro was among my first DEWN wine club shipments in either 2005 or 2006. The wine is definitely past its prime but was quite drinkable but could not have gone much longer. No special storage was used. Wine still had some tannin and had a taste of dried cherries. Worked great with grilled lamb loins. Definitely amazing that wine held up for 14 years.

Agree with the other notes. Decanted this and it opened up nicely. I wasn't sure if it would seem past its prime, but it didn't at all. Nicely balanced, and went well with both the porterhouse and the marinated chicken that came off the grill- tho better with the steak, natch. I remember tasting this at the old tasting room and falling for it; I've looked at it many times over the years, and it didn't disappoint. Very balanced, with dark acid cherry, some boysenberry, that orange peel, and a dry, cracked leather finish- but very smooth.

Le Cigare Volant vertical: Very bright and sharp. Tight acid, tart cherries and orange peel. Solid fruit, nice finish with pretty elements and earthy notes as well. Very balanced and harmonious. Great with food.

Another great surprise from Bonny Doon. We loved this wine, great deep fruit flavors with smooth dry finish.
