My last of these and possibly the best bottle yet. Pop and pour. This is just a beautiful zin with balance, style and finesse. To me Carlisle zins definitely take a turn to elegance as they age. Big zinberry fruit, spice and still with the tannic underpinning to continue evolving. Unfortunately my last bottle of this beaut. Perfect wine for grilled mooseburgers.
The wine from Mike Carlise had a jammy nose. It was the 07 Rossi Zinfandel. Some fruit. E-Z drinking. Some spice. Very smooth. This was good drinking on P 'n P (pop and pour). Opening up nicely at 90 minutes. 92 points
A beautiful Calif Zinfandel from this great producer. Nose of raspberry, plum, dark chocolate and tobacco. Palate echoes the nose, showing red and blue fruits, cigar box a hint of orange zest, following through with nice med acidity and a med length finish with perfectly ripened fruits and soil tones. This is a fantastic Calif Zin, drinking beautifully now and will continue to do so through 2016 or so, probably longer.
Intensely spiced, almost "stemmy". While I've like the Rossi 'garrique' and buy the wine for that, this was a bit disjointed to me tonight. In your face green/stems on the nose, palate took a while to settle down. Not that we didn't finish the bottle, but the fruit was reticent, a rare comment from me on a Carlisle wine.
