  • Wow, this is a great wine! On the young side even. Deep ruby with only vague garnet hints, if they were even there. A remarkable mix of Cote-Rotie and California greets you on the nose. Savoury, olive tapenade, pine roast and clove spice all peek through the intense nose with pronounced dark berry compote. Rich, full body balanced by just the right acidity. I had the feeling this was still possibly as much as ten years from peak. (I have a cold Danish cellar). Remarkable. I may be under rating at 93+.

  • Well, I was afraid this was probably in decline, but it's drinking just fine with dinner. (Since that was a richly-sauced chicken mole - it's another indication the wine still has some stuffing left.) It's also sipping well after dinner, though at this point my palate isn't picking up much nuance. Was a touch hot on the pop-n-pour, but with some air, it's all integrating. I dunno, this was my last bottle, but seems it may hold well for awhile longer.

  • Consumed over two nights. First night, decanted for an hour, still very tight. Predominantly cocoa and leather, very subdued fruit. Too far past its prime? Maybe. Had a few bites of Old Chatham Sheepherding Hudson Valley Camembert and this wine really blossomed. Second night, much more relaxed, rounded. Very long finish.

  • Consumed over three evenings. Beautiful wine, likely a bit late with this, but still super enjoyable. Floral fragrance from the moment the bottle was opened until the last. Balance fruit, different every night. Delicious with English cheddar the first night and dark chocolate the last. Drink up!

  • Super floral upon opening. Sat for an hour, in bottle, then consumed with a cheese board. Plums, blackberries, and leather. Great body & mouthfeel, very well-balanced. Likely post-peak, but very, very good.
