From one of the oldest wineries in Marlborough, which lends me to believe that this and Cloudy Bay may be more representative of what SB in New Zealand originally was like. Before many of the new wineries popped up, where their SBs are more dominated by grapefruit citrus notes. 87-89 (1349 views) |

| | Tasted by cse on 6/28/2006 & rated 89 points: soaring, glorious gooseberry bouquet; on the palate the wine is lush and reasonably long, but in the end it runs out of steam; it lacks a certain backbone. perhaps it was stronger a year ago? drink up soon! (842 views) |
| | Tasted by thebonnydooner on 9/27/2005 & rated 91 points: Not quite as stunning as the first time round - but excellent nevertheless. Very typical NZ - aggressive and a tad vegetal (in a good way). Great purity of flavour and a long finish. (1473 views) |
| | Tasted by thebonnydooner on 7/17/2005 & rated 93 points: Quite possibly the best SB I have had. Right up there with the best Cloudy Bay. Nose is soaring, with really intense ripe gooseberry fruit - had some green nettles/grass as well - very distinctive Marlborough SB. Crisp, balanced on the palate with a really long penetrating length. Loads of crisp apple and lime fruit. This was an awesome SB. (1636 views) |
