  • Tasted at La Paulee Singapore organised by Vintage at Mandarin Oriental. This was from table sharing. Did not have time to write the notes, only the rating score.

  • Roumier Chambolle Musigny Vertical 2005-2007

    2005
Fill level was low and cork broke off which leads me to be believe that this wasn’t stored properly. Deepest and darkest in color and most concentrated.
Smelled a bit oxidized with liquored cherry, dusty earth, spice, and caramel notes. Med acidity, long finish. You can sense what it could have been had it been in proper shape.

    2006
Sweet floral notes and high toned red fruit. Some fresh herbs and pine.
Med+ acidity, Med+ finish with a sneaky tannic grip. My favorite of the 3.

    2007
Red fruit, quite earthy, and could sense some oak in the form of roasted coffee or toasted nuts but it didn’t detract. Quite elegant and complex.
Med+ acidity, med tannins, slightly bitter finish.

  • Nose: candy, musk, earth, spice, red fruits, cherry
Notes: I would think that this is probably the ceiling of a village Chambolle. Everything starting from the nose to the palate shows that this wine is punching above its weight while I believe I cannot find a better Chambolle from anyone else. This wine is definitely quite ready and can be consumed now with great pleasure.

  • This wine still felt youthful and fresh until the last year, perhaps now starting to move into the secondary phase. Still bright and elegant on the nose. Cherry and strawberry on the nose. Definitely a wine to enjoy and savour, makes you think, contemplate and reflect.
Lots of texture. Mineral. Weightless yet dense. Palate and nose screams Chambolle. High toned. Super elegant. Pretty red fruits Cherry. Cranberry. Great balance. But now with a touch of mushroom and secondary savoury flavours. Open and approachable. This wine has been open consistently for a long while.

  • Pop and drink after an hour of air. Elegant pronounced nose that make one fall in love with Burgundy. Classy palate that will further develop in years to come. That’s what a classic top tier winemaker delivered for a village wine.
