Paul brought this and I was super curious because I hadn't tasted an older Melville. How would it hold up? Brilliantly, actually. It shows some aging but not in a negative way, the oak is moved into sandalwood and the tannins are soft and nimble. Real pleasure. Surprised so many bottle still in CT, good for you all.

A lovely wine for sure. The first sniff reveals the Melville typical strawberries, but also more complex raspberries and we forest floor. After a few minutes in the glass, complexity increases and layers of saddle leather, grapefruit and orange zest appear. This is just adorable. The palate follows through in a nice way with balance and integration. All components are in place and they are aligned and eloquent tonight. There is no doubt this effort is peaking right now. Hence, it might certainly last for a number of years but if you want to taste it with 'primary' fruit still present and at the same experience the lovely complexity - now is a good time to drink it.
