Still some ageing potential, needed some time after decanting to open up. Should have given it longer to warm up from cellar temperature before opening.

A very sexy bottle, full of charm and allure. Very dark, though not opaque. Fresh berry fruit aromas. Balanced and well rounded. As good the second day as the first. And quite a bargain. Seems very good now, but one doesn't need to hurry through one's collection. Based on this bottle, I would look for the 2015 vintage, which seems to be at the same price as I paid for this bottle quite a while ago--could be a very good value.

Drank this on Saturday night with beef tenderloin steaks, one of our handcarried bottles from Summer '11 France trip. Lovely raspberry liqueur, garrigue, subdued spice for Gigondas but still that chalky mouthfeel. Very good southern Rhone wine - rivals many CdP - recommend 1-hr decant at this stage.

May have been a bad bottle, but hard to say. Either way, dumped it.
