Opened a bottle to celebrate New Years. The wine still has life, although it is past its prime. Well-balanced and still fruity. I think I have another bottle or two in the cellar. Should still be drinkable for another few years.
Enjoyed with the double breasted chicken at Flemings Walnut Creek. Lovely nose of dark fruit-touch of plum and ripe black cherry, more of the same on the palate, touch of earth and currants, medium body, very tasty, both servers liked the wine, long finish. Drink up next two or three years.
Wow ... this wine is much more old-world than I anticipated. Absolutely loved it. Very fresh, good acidity and the fruit is there, but not overly pronounced. Unlike most Cali cabs -- which is what I like. I can see why Tanzer did not rate this highly -- because it's not in the usual high-octane mold, but nonetheless an amazing wine for those who like this style of wine.
