Beautiful fresh Barolo from tiny single parcel planted 1954. The cork was the first indication - dense, tough, no leaks at all, like new. The wine is similarly young, and still a bit tough too. Nose with eucalyptus and pencil, black tea, olives, warm sweet noble alcohol. Cherries and strawberries, light bitter of juniper berry, sweet and dry. Strong grippy tannins, long and clean dry finish. Many years ahead.

No formal note, but after a couple of hours in the decanter, this struck me as a juicy cough drop- very medicinal in flavor (which is not a bad thing)- but the juiciness threw me for a loop. No clue where this is going- but my first bottle so I guess I'll find out.

Decanted a few hours. Very tight initially with high tannins. Over the meal it became very charming. Lots of classic Nebbiolo tell tales and in the end good balance between acid, fruit and tannins. Still young.

This was decanted 60 minutes prior to pairing with homemade lasagna. Significant sediment, along with a dark ruby cloak with lightened edges and a typical nebbiolo nose (i.e., reticent). Medium-full body with black fruits, black currant, oak spice, and touches of tar and leather. Very good concentration and intensity, with a finish that lengthened as the meal wore on. Seems quite young yet and not particularly 'singing' on this night, but will be interesting to watch into the future. Will try again in a year.

Big and bold. Shoe polish, dried flowers, tar and dark chocolate. Tannins. Still young with a lot of residue at bottom of bottle.
