Everybody thought this wine was "over the hill", but I found it to be alive and vibrant with exceptional depth and character for an '05. Beautiful black currant/cherry nose leading to layers of intense flavor and depth. Geyser Peak has always done a great job with their "special selection" wines since being taken over by the "Aussies" and this proves to be another proof to the pudding.

We let this breathe about 30 minutes before drinking and it did not disappoint. Blackberries on the nose. Full bodied, low acid, softened tannins. blackberries, coffee on the palette, with a finish of chocolate.

Solid but past it's prime. Really faded after 2 hours. Great nose.
