With 15 years in bottle, the fruit is still very much in evidence. One bottle, tried over three pours was singing straight out of the blocks, with acidity on day two and a very mature wine on day three. On reflection, drink with a very short decant or with none at all. Still trying to find the best food match after a few meals, but Abbacchio alla Romana isn't a bad candidate. Thanks BBX for excellent value!

Random bottle received as hostess at annual holiday party. Was not expecting much but this was surprisingly good. Pnp with about 30 mins in glass. The nose is earthy but somewhat muted. The flavors are very nicely integrated with soft tannins and plum, earth and leather. Very full on the mid palate. Really mature and delightful!

small vineyard (<5 acres), clay soil, 30+ year old vines. Mid-October harvest, 24 months French Barrique. Tasting note: Notes of dark fruit, earth, sweet flowers. On the palate, very tight with harsh tannins that will mellow out but not sure there is enough fruit to last as long as the tannins will take to come around.

Nicely harmonious, complex nose with plums. Round and elegant in the mouth with chalky tannins on the finish.

Empson Barolo & Brunello Tour (Dallas): Rubber on the nose... Built well but just ok, simple Barolo.
