Dusi is such a perplexing vineyard. When good it can be really good and when bad, it's like drinking grandma's prune juice. This was one of the good bottles. Ripe, yes, but also showing restraint. Spicy, ripe fruit nose with a very syrah-like pepper notes in the palate. More raspberry and cherry than prune. Critically, it dries up a bit on the finish and finishes a bit dry.
My first Turley. It's a great bottle of spicy, fruity deliciousness! It hope the bottle survives to try with dinner. I don't have a lot of experience with CA zins, as I think the only other ones were cheaper bottles from Total Wine that made my stomach hurt. This turley is delicious, and very big. I'm glad I got on their mailing list this year.
I must be an outlier. I like Zinfandel a lot but the Turley Zins just aren't doing it for me. They seem a bit ponderous. I consumed this bottle with a group who all enjoy, and know, wine and none were particularly impressed. Sorry.
