This was purchased on sale, probably from someone's cellar, and it reminded me of why I liked this wine: It's classic Cabernet with a mix of dark and red berry fruit and notes of earth and tobacco on the medium to long finish, with light tannins and well-balanced acidity. These still have three to five years left in them, although bottle variation may come into play at this late stage.

A beautiful mature old school cabernet. PnP. Beautiful aroma with blackberry, cassis, anise, leather and a hint of herbal. Still has lots of flavor with blackberry, cassis, anise, tobacco, spice, a touch of cedar and a hint of herbal. Well balanced with a long smooth finish. soft tannin if the finish. No sign of decline.

Not decanted. Lots of sediment. Perfect cork. The nose was disappointing, as there was a persistent rotting vegetal note that was there, even up to the last glass. The palate, however, was a wholly different animal: beautiful dark cherry, loam, tobacco, licorice. Long finish with no tannin left. The nose was too evolved and had become stinky and pruney, so drink up! Nose: 70, Palate: 92

This was my last bottle of the regular Karl Lawrence, and it was excellent as always. This bottling was a benchmark for quality at the $50 price point, and I am sorry that it's gone.

very enjoyable, not distinctive, but for the $34 on Garagiste, good buy.
