Hmmm. Interesting. I've saved this bottle for years, thinking it would be a treat. Maybe too young, but I doubt it. The fruit is fading, and this is such a cough syrupy, alcoholic, hot finish, mess. Just not my thing. I'd say this is falling apart and was better in 09, when last tasted. Two nights later - this has potential to be something in a decade. Let the last bottle rest. Caramel notes coming through that make it somewhat appealing. One sixth of this bottle is sediment at this point, not exaggerating.
This bottle so different from the last. Deep, beautiful purple, almost black color. Powerful black and purple fruit nose, with alcohol back. Then on the palate a smorgaasbord of sweet and complex fruits, balanced and enriched by a myriad of flavors - incense, metallic and mineral elements (pleasant), sweet floral notes, and deft oak. Mind-blowing really. Not a stylish mature, old vintage port profile, or even a young, tannic vintage port profile, this is another animal altogether - a new world version - and very enjoyable for what it is. Not sure if there's the balance to last, but the elements are all there for decades of life. Impressive.
Note: This wine has thrown more sediment than any I can remember for its age and bottle size. Stand upright for a time, and then seriously decant. Significantly worth the effort.

Cough syrupy. Great depth, length, viscosity, even some complexity, but.........cough syrupy. HUGE amount of sediment. Could have effected tasting. Decant carefully next time.
